The PFL has booked a major heavyweight championship fight for its return to Dubai, with reigning champion Vadim Nemkov set to defend his title against Sergei Bilostenniy on November 14 at Coca-Cola Arena.
The matchup gives the promotion a clear centerpiece for one of its biggest international cards of the year, and it also brings together two heavyweights with deep ties to the Team Fedor system.
Nemkov Makes His First Heavyweight Title Defense
Nemkov enters the fight as one of the most accomplished athletes on the PFL roster. The former Bellator light heavyweight champion moved up to heavyweight and has looked increasingly comfortable at 265 pounds, combining the same technical discipline that made him elite at light heavyweight with more finishing power and physical presence.
He captured the vacant PFL heavyweight championship by submitting Renan Ferreira in the first round last December. That victory extended a remarkable run: Nemkov has not suffered a loss since 2016 and has built one of the strongest résumés outside the UFC during that stretch.
At 20-2 with one no contest, the Russian champion remains dangerous everywhere. His striking is structured and patient, but his ability to chain wrestling into submissions has become especially effective since the move to heavyweight.
Bilostenniy Earns His Shot
Bilostenniy arrives with a 15-4 professional record and plenty of momentum of his own. The No. 3-ranked PFL heavyweight has won five of his last six appearances across PFL and Bellator competition and has increasingly established himself as one of the division’s most dangerous finishers.
Most importantly, he is coming off a third-round TKO victory over former PFL heavyweight champion Renan Ferreira at PFL Sioux Falls. That result gave Bilostenniy the signature win he needed to move into the title picture.
He has also scored notable finishes over Karl Williams and Tyrell Fortune, showing that he can threaten opponents both on the feet and on the mat. Against Nemkov, however, he faces the most complete test of his career.
A Team Fedor Storyline Adds Another Layer
There is a particularly interesting subplot behind the matchup: both fighters have roots with Team Fedor and have spent time in the same broader training system associated with heavyweight legend Fedor Emelianenko.
That familiarity could make the fight especially tactical. Nemkov is known for disciplined decision-making and clean transitions, while Bilostenniy tends to bring more physical pressure and finishing urgency. The fact that both men understand many of the same training principles should reduce the number of easy surprises available to either side.
PFL Returns to Dubai
The November 14 event will take place at Coca-Cola Arena and marks another major PFL stop in the United Arab Emirates. The promotion has increasingly used the Middle East as a key part of its international schedule, and a heavyweight world title fight gives the Dubai card an obvious main-event attraction.
For Nemkov, the fight is a chance to strengthen his case as one of the best heavyweights competing outside the UFC. For Bilostenniy, it is the biggest opportunity of his career and a chance to turn his recent run into championship gold.
With the title, a long unbeaten streak and Team Fedor bragging rights all involved, PFL Dubai now has a heavyweight main event with real stakes.
