Dana White’s Contender Series added four more names to the UFC roster on Tuesday night, and the loudest statement came from unbeaten light heavyweight Quentin Pasley.
Week 5 of Season 10 took place on September 8 at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas, where Pasley, Isaac Moreno, Martin Kozak and Christian Natividad all earned UFC contracts. Three of the five fights ended inside the distance, giving White plenty to work with when contract decisions were made after the card.
Quentin Pasley Delivers the Night’s Biggest Finish
Pasley entered the main event with only three professional MMA fights, but he left with the kind of finish that can instantly change a prospect’s trajectory. Facing the previously unbeaten Arlind Berisha, Pasley worked his way into a dominant ground position before landing a pair of heavy elbows that ended the fight late in the opening round.
The knockout was decisive enough that there was little suspense over whether the 24-year-old would receive a contract. White later praised Pasley and compared aspects of what he had seen from the prospect to Jon Jones. That comparison should be taken for what it is: an enthusiastic post-fight assessment from the UFC CEO, not a prediction that Pasley will follow Jones’ career path.
What is clear is that Pasley now enters the UFC as an undefeated light heavyweight with finishing ability, athleticism and relatively little professional mileage. That combination alone makes his first official UFC booking worth watching.
Moreno, Kozak and Natividad Join Him
Welterweight Isaac Moreno also secured a contract after defeating Reginaldo Junior by unanimous decision. Moreno did not produce the card’s flashiest finish, but he showed enough across three rounds to convince White that he belonged on the roster.
Middleweight Martin Kozak had a more emphatic route to the UFC. The 6-foot-4 prospect stopped Christian Echols with punches in the second round after using his size and pressure effectively throughout the fight. Echols had missed the middleweight limit at Monday’s weigh-ins, but Kozak still handled the matchup and capitalized on his opportunity.
Christian Natividad completed the group of new signings with a first-round stoppage of Colton Loud. Natividad pushed the pace from the opening bell and eventually overwhelmed Loud with strikes, adding another finish to a DWCS season that has consistently rewarded aggressive performances.
Apollo Gomes Wins, But Leaves Without a Contract
The one winner who did not receive a UFC deal was Apollo Gomes. The Brazilian bantamweight defeated former ONE Championship contender Kwon Won Il by unanimous decision in a competitive fight, but White ultimately decided not to sign him after the performance.
That result is another reminder of what makes Contender Series different from a standard fight card. Winning matters, but it does not automatically guarantee a UFC contract. Fighters are effectively auditioning while competing, and the promotion is looking for performances that suggest immediate upside at UFC level.
Another Strong Week for the UFC Prospect Pipeline
Season 10 has already produced a steady stream of new UFC talent, and Week 5 continued that trend with prospects across four different divisions earning contracts in the same night. Pasley will understandably receive much of the attention after his violent main-event finish, but Moreno, Kozak and Natividad now have the same opportunity: turn a Contender Series contract into a lasting UFC career.
The next step will be seeing how quickly the promotion books the new signings and which opponents they draw for their debuts. For Pasley in particular, expectations are likely to rise quickly after such a memorable first impression.
